Commissioned into the Corps of Engineers Indian Army, in Dec 1962 with Silver and Parachute Regiment Medals, the General Officer has had a brilliant and a chequered Career spanning 37 years till he took voluntary retirement in june'99 from the coveted position of Commandant Selection Center Allahabad, the Army's largest Officer Selection Center screening over fifteen thousand candidates every year.
Early in his service as a young Major, he attended the prestigious Canadian Forces Command and Staff course at Toronto. Selection for this 10 months course was made through an all Army competitive examination and selection. This course was attended by selected officers from NATO and commonwealth countries.
Although an Engineer Officer, he was selected for General staff appointments of distinction at different levels and select command assignments of a mountain brigade in Sikkim and an all arms infantry division comprising about 20,000 personnel and equipment worth Crores. He was also responsible for the overall logistical support of the whole Indian army, deployed through out the length and breadth of this vast country in his capacity as Additional Director General, Operational Logistics.
His assignments in service include foreign assignments, instructional and operational experience during 1965 and 1971 wars and conceiving new training concepts for men and machine in the modern high technology competitive environment.
Now for the last eight years, he has been the Patron of the family concern "CS Institute of Defence and Management" Bhopal and heads the Institute faculty. |
